Massive Pixel 9a leak reveals official-looking renders, color options

  • Leaked renders of the alleged Pixel 9a surfaced online giving out design details and all the colors.
  • Renders show that Google might’ve given up on the thick camera visor on this device for the first time
  • The device will supposedly come with a new 48-megapixel main sensor.

The quality of the leaked information regarding the upcoming Pixel 9a budget model continues to improve, and now we have access to complete renderings of the device, as well as a sneak peek at its four fresh color options (as reported by Android Headlines).

As per reports, the upcoming Pixel 9a is expected to resemble its predecessors, but with a significant difference in design. Instead of retaining the distinctive thick camera visor found on all previous Pixel phones, this new model might feature cameras that are flush with the back of the device. This adjustment would result in a streamlined, elegant appearance, while also displaying a dual camera setup. These speculations align with the latest leaks of Pixel 9a cases which appear to lack the same camera cutout as other Pixel models, indicating a possible design change.

The article also mentions that the Pixel 9a collection is expected to feature the same hues as the Pixel 9 series: Peony, Obsidian, and Porcelain, in addition to a new Iris (purple) shade, all accompanied by coordinating cases.

Regarding the hardware, the depictions suggest that the Pixel 9a will feature two rows on the side for physical buttons, primarily serving as power and volume controls, along with rounded edges, a flatter screen, and a more compact design compared to its predecessor, the Pixel 8a. The size is slightly larger, measuring approximately 154 x 73 x 8.9mm, compared to 152.1mm on the Pixel 8a. This enlargement seems to be for accommodating a larger battery with an estimated capacity of 5,100mAh and faster charging speeds, up to 23W for wired charging and 7.5W for wireless.

Additionally, Android Headlines reports that the device’s primary camera might receive an upgrade. It appears that instead of the current 64MP main sensor, a new 48MP main sensor on a 1/2-inch size with an f/1.7 aperture could be used. The tech company seems to be keeping the 13MP ultrawide camera and the same 13MP selfie camera.

Although these leaks might be considered as conjectures, it’s essential to approach them with careful consideration. Interestingly, another leak suggests that the Google Pixel 9a may make its debut in March, with pre-orders starting on the 19th of that month. The device is rumored to come in two variants, priced at $399 and $499 (256GB) respectively.
